Breathe

Slice of Life Challenge
Please join the challenge over at Two Writing Teachers!

Today is one of those days...
I have so much to say and no words.

Thirty-three days left...
Breathe

Making the most
of every precious
moment,
Breathe

I need to remember to enjoy and
not stress
Breathe
I need to remember to listen and
not nag
Breathe
I need to remember to watch and
not assume
Breathe

They need ME
not crazy, stressed out me.
Breathe

A reminder to myself as we journey through the crazy end of school year time...BE present with my students. BE with them. LISTEN to them. HEAR them. WATCH them. It's easy to get caught up in the hulla-baloo of test prep and finish the curriculum...being stressed doesn't make any of those things better, just stressful.

Breathe!
Breathe!
Breathe!

How are you managing a joy-filled end of the year?!?!

  1. Michelle, this is a perfect question! For me, blasting the radio with great music on the way to school and singing my heart out uplifts my spirit. Thankful/gratefulness journal and Saturday celebrations keep me focused on the positiveness even in the midst of not-so-great data that we just reviewed yesterday. Thanks for a reminder to keep joy in the forefront!

  2. The craziness starts. WE had our first day back after the spring break yesterday, and I met a teacher in the hall. She said, "I already feel like I am drowning." I should've shared your poem with her. Just breathe. We need to remember that and to appreciate each moment. Thanks.

  3. Thanks for this reminder, Michelle - it's that time of year for me, too and I need to keep the message in your post firmly in mind and in my heart.

  4. Michelle,
A good reminder not just for the end of the school year but for everyday. I like the constant "breath" refrain.

  5. I always felt this way too at this time of year. Now that I am retired I no longer need to reming myself to "breathe".

  6. You will breathe and you will accomplish all the necessary tasks because you are with the kids listening and watching. Just breathe!

  7. Remembering to breathe is so hard this time of year. Our second round of state testing started today...breathe! We have a lot of fun things planned in the next couple of weeks - that is the part I love!

  9. Thank you for sharing this. Today was our first day of testing, and the kids were insane. I honestly thought I was going to lose my mind. I appreciate the reminder to enjoy these final moments with my kids. We will get there!
