LOOKing in my Spiritual Journey

Thank you to Holly for this place to share our
spiritual journeys! Join us at Holly's blog.

LOOK. What a beautifully active word! When I look up the definition, I find, "direct one's gaze toward someone..." I like LOOK better than the word "see", but they are linked. When I LOOK, my eyes, my heart, my soul needs to see what's in front of me...but I can't see it if I'm not LOOKing. It is something that I think about. The minute difference between those words. I'm reminded of the saying, "What you focus on expands." (Attributed to many different people) I think of it as, "What you're LOOKing for...you'll see." It's all about perspective and what you're paying attention to in the world.

I'm paying attention to kindness, to love, to prayer, to miracles, to God. I see all of this...everyday...because I'm looking for it. Don't mistake me, life isn't rainbows and merry-go-rounds! I see all of this despite the pain and hurt in the world. I think LOOKing for God all around helps me survive the bad stuff! LOOK for the joy after the pain! LOOK for the help after the disaster! BE the miracle for someone who needs it.

Thinking about LOOK this morning...such a gift. Thank you!

  1. Michelle, the greatest gift we can give ourselves is looking inward and upward. Beautiful words in the song: He knows my name. Why? because He looks at me. It makes sense that we try to become in His image and look to Him for guidance. Thank you for your insight tonight.

  2. I think you made an important point that we need to look at the pain and hurt in the world, too. Jesus certainly did. It helps give us compassion.

  3. Michelle, this post is so optimistic and hopeful. I especially like these words: "LOOK for the joy after the pain! LOOK for the help after the disaster! BE the miracle for someone who needs it." Once we look, then we need to act. Thanks for these words.
