Silence in My Spiritual Journey

Thank you to Holly for the opportunity to write about my Spiritual Journey. Today we are writing about moments of silence...I needed to write about this and think about it. Join us in thinking about and writing about your own Spiritual Journey!

I talk.
A lot.
All. The. Time.
I wonder if I
talk in my sleep?
I talk to myself...
constantly,
even when I'm out shopping-
Embarrassing, but true.

Words
fill the moments
of my life.

Silence.
I yearn
for more...
moments
in my day
I stop.
Listen.
Wait.
Wait. Wait... until
I start
talking
again.
Why?

Uncomfortable
in the
silence...
but it's where I
need
to be to
really hear the
voice of God.

Silence.
Less words.
More silence.
I'm listening...

  1. I love to talk, too, Michelle! The silence, though, can be refreshing. Our mind, soul, and ears need it! :-)

  2. I'm glad I'm not the only one who talks to herself. At times I find myself laughing at my own jokes. :) I find that I have to be intentional when listening - that focus helps. Like you, I don't always find it easy, but I always walk away with peace. Have a beautiful day, friend.

  3. I love your extrovert-ness. I wish I were more extroverted. My soul craves and needs silence. I am most comfortable with quiet. Sometimes even music can bug me. The last days of school had me in a tither. I am loving the quiet of summer. I'll fill the days easily enough. I am looking forward to our quiet days at Highlights.

  4. Listen to your yearning for quiet and create moments to just sit and be. It is amazing what the silence says. It comforts. It teaches. It allows. (I am speaking to myself by the way.) Thank you for your lovely poem.

  5. I love this. It reminds me of the verse, Be Still and Know that I am God. He reaches out to us when take the time to be quiet and wait upon Him. Thanks for sharing.

  6. Michelle, in your talking out loud in your poem you were reflective and quiet crept in. I love the line, "Words fill the moments of my life." Enjoy the end of school and the beginning of the summer.
