Happy 2nd Blogiversary & Why I Write!

Thank you to Stacey, Betsy, Dana, Tara, Beth, Anna, Kathleen & Deb for this amazing platform to write and share writing! What a wonderful community you've created! I'm honored to be part of it. Join us at Two Writing Teachers.

My slice today comes to you in two parts. First...

Two years ago, on October 22nd, I began writing on this blog. 367 blog posts later, here I am.

I'm proud of this accomplishment. It means I have showed up every week to write. It proves that I am a writer which leads me to part two of my blog post...

I will answer the question: Why I Write? Today is the National Day on Writing sponsored by NCTE. I've been thinking about this question for awhile. There are so many reasons that I write...
I write to untangle my insides.
I write to communicate my feelings.
I write to think, to figure things out.
I write to calm myself down.
I write to learn.
I write to explore new worlds.
I write to express myself.
I write to share who I am.
I write for my students.
I write for my family.
I write for my friends.
I write for myself.
I write for my readers.
I write because I don't know how not to write.
When I don't write, I lose myself.
Writing brings me back to me.
Writing quiets the crazy chaos of the world.
When I write, everything makes sense.

Why do you write?

  1. Two years! Two years of wonder and of encouragement and of stories and musings. Two years of connections. I love that you began right around a Day on Writing, and kept on keeping on. Thanks for being part of my writerly, teacherly, slicerly network of friends (with a Western Mass connection)

  5. Congratulations on your Blog Birthday. You captured all of the reasons that I write. I would add only one. My writing is my dialogue with God.

  9. How cool that I could write on the padlet in your post! Wordpress doesn't let this happen. Somehow I feel like we've known each other longer. True friends are like that, I guess.
