It's a Good Life

Thank you to Stacey, Betsy, Dana, Tara, Beth, Anna, Kathleen & Deb for this amazing platform to write and share writing! What a wonderful community you've created! I'm honored to be part of it. Join us at Two Writing Teachers.

I want to start this post by thanking everyone who commented yesterday. Your kind words brought me to tears. I'm grateful, beyond words, for this community of bloggers...friends...here.

Yesterday was a Good Day! Finished the garage clean out. Met my blogging friend Sally at Panera and we talked for hours...literally hours! I can't believe we didn't take a selfie!!!

Next I ran some errands. As a reward for cleaning out my garage, I treated myself to a beautiful new chair...patchwork, colorful, comfy, and inspiring.

At home, I stayed busy with Bella and straightening up my kitchen and reading and writing and enjoying life. It was one of those days. One of those days when life makes sense, pieces fall into place, things feel good.

I don't take good days for granted anymore. I celebrate them. The simple ones are the best. Celebrating being in the moment and being grateful brings such joy.

Thank you to Ruth Ayres for providing this space to share our celebrations. Please join us and share your own!

  2. I'm reading two slices of you -- yesterday's and today's -- and seeing some balancing out of the world, at least a little bit. I don't have the right words to ease yesterday's slice so I call attention to how you found solace today in the world you have made for yourself. May tomorrow be more of today, and less of yesterday.

  3. The chair is fabulous and I'm so glad that your day is a celebration today. As I've been reading through hundreds of slices this month, so many of them resonate with the idea to slow down, notice and hold close those special small moments in our lives, to celebrate the ordinary. Writing is a powerful tool for doing this! Thanks for sharing your celebration today.

  4. See now--I look at that chair, and wish for a space of my own that I could decorate with something fabulous like that. I will have to wait until we empty nest before that happens! I'm glad your day was blessed with good companionship and a sense of accomplishment.

  5. Love that chair! (And your Parks and Rec print I see in the background?) One thing Slicing this month has helped me to do is celebrate those good days. I'm glad you could too. I so admired your honesty in your post yesterday--it helped me to be honest, too! Thank you for sharing!

  7. I love your chair but even more your wonderful comment...."I don't take good days for granted." That should be my "bumper sticker" this spring as I deal with great losses and yet wonderful slobbery-kiss filled moments. Your hope infuses my heart too.

  8. I hav been MIA lately and I am sorry I missed reading yesterday's post yesterday. Today as I read it and today's post I kept thinking about permission. We have to give ourselves permission to have these kinds of days. But the important step is the time when we bounce back and realize it is a good life! Because it is the special life God gave to you. I know you live life to the fullest and that is a celebration! BTW - I love the chair - it is so you!

  9. One thing that I want to celebrate with you in writing yesterday is that I bet you gave permission to those who read it to open their own hearts and share some important part previously kept secret. You are a model of telling it like it is, Michelle, and I so admire you for that. Today, I love "I don't take good days for granted". You said it better than I would, but it is what I believe too. Too much passes us by, and we shouldn't let that happen. Glad you had a wonderful day & that chair seems like an igniter of the light that shines on you. What a find! Happy Easter!

  10. "The simple ones are the best"
I feel like we try to cram a lot into a day that I think we don't appreciate those simple days, when things fall into place and life is simply good.

  18. So happy to read your celebrations. Congrats on attacking that garage - I saw the before and after pic. Glad you had time with Sally, I saw in her comment that she was meeting you at Panera's. Your chair begs for 'sit down and write time!" I love it. And Bella's artful pic is the best!
