Morning Person

Early morning at the beach.
It's 4:26 AM in the morning of the second day of school. Silence...other than a car driving down the road. I love waking up when the world is asleep! These are moments I cherish...before the world awakes and life begins for the day. I breathe deeply. I listen more closely. I write. I think. I pray.

These are the moments that make me a morning person. When I miss the early morning time, I feel like I missed time with an old friend. A friend who sees me. A friend who calms me. I feel a little bit lost and a little bit off kilter for the day.

Mom and I share our love of early morning time.

As everyone wakes up, things start to happen...quickly. It's trash day, I need to empty the trash. School begins and the students arrive. Have I made my lunch? Drive to school before traffic gets bad and I'm late. That meeting is happening today...life moves and shifts like tectonic plates.

Right now, stretch. Listen. Write. Pray. Breathe. Think. Good morning to you...

Enjoying early morning with two of my favorite people in the world.

  1. I could write in praise of mornings almost every day! I hadn't put it into words before, but I, too, feel "off kilter" if I've missed my early morning time. Love the photos!

  3. Thanks for the praise of mornings. As my internal clock switches from night owl to early bird, you remind me to celebrate the peace of early mornings 😌

    1. Ok. Let me make it clear. I don't drive to school at 4:30 AM. I should revise that. Lol! Oops!

  6. I am also a morning person. I often get up long before anyone else, just to cherish the quiet as the new day begins. It is a hard thing to give up as I return to school.

  7. I do rise early to take time for writing, planning the day, but I'm a night owl, too, so sometimes they conflict. Love your pictures, Michelle.

  8. The mornings are my favorite time too. I feel like I'm sneaking into the world, almost stealing time.

  9. I too am an early morning person. For me, it's easier to live in the early morning glory during the summer, but I will take it any time of the year.
Thank you for reminding me to cherish the time no matter the season.

  10. I so wish I had your passion for mornings. I would rather experience putting everyone to bed and enjoying the winding down of the day. Beautiful pictures of your mornings on the beach - so envious! Hope you are having a great first week.

  11. I love the idea that you have to revise the 4:30 a.m. drive : ) I too am usually up that early (but also, not driving). You capture the breath and beauty of that early morning time. I do love it too. Happy new school year to you!

  13. I love early mornings. It's just the first few moments I dread. Once I have some coffee, then I hit the ground running.

  14. I don't consider myself a morning person, but like you, I need my quiet time at the beginning of the day, because I certainly don't get it at the end, when everyone is still up and about in the house. A great description of your morning; love the photos, too!
