It's a Good Life

Waking up to this sweet face every day. She sleeps in a pile of blankets, surrounded by her toys.

Morning pages is how I begin my day. A candle. Quiet. My notebook and me. What a way to begin the day.

We take a walk. Every day when I walk Bella, I call my mom. It's a chance for us to chat about life. Getting to talk to my mom every day is such a gift and I treasure it.

The sky humbles me with the overwhelming sunrise.

Coffee. Really? Do I need any explanation?

A quick snuggle with Bella before the day begins. This is rare, but she leapt into the chair. That's a reason to stop for a moment. My dog teaches me such important lessons about life.

B-AM News. This is how each day begins. My communications classes create a daily news show. It rocks. They rock. I LOVE it!

Our class mantra. Every day it's written on the board for all to see. We live this.

After a long day at school, look at who's waiting for me. I'm so lucky!

Mmmmmm! Refreshing!

MAIL!!!!! From my niece! Wow!!!

She drew me a picture of Abraham Lincoln. Awesome!

Another day is over. Busy with students and's a good life.

March is the Slice of Life Challenge.
I'll be sharing a post each day in the month of March.
Please join me at Two Writing Teachers to read more slices!

  1. It is a good life! I love your cheerful orange coffee maker. Your area to write Morning Pages is just beautiful.

  2. Lovely photo essay. Your class mantra is perfect!

  3. Thank you for sharing the lovely details of your day! Can you explain Morning Pages to me?

    1. I want to know about them, too. I get up at 5:10 and leave at 6:10, so not sure if there is time, but still am curious. :-)

  4. Love all of this. And your photos are so powerful. They tell a wonderfully rich story. Just added your slice to my ever-growing Padlet of great slicing ideas. Thank you!

  5. Your morning is so busy and full even if it is only one hour long! Yet, it leads into a full day of empowering learners!

  6. I enjoyed this so much and definitely plan to borrow the idea for my own morning photo slice, which will also be full of pet. Loved the photo of Bella on her pile of blankets. So funny.

  7. So many blessings, so much to be thankful for. I love that you captured your day in photos. Your Bella reminds me of my beagle, Lucy. She loves to sleep in cozy blankets, too!

  8. What a great way to document your day and so many blessings in your life. :) Plus, I'm impressed with how much you get done in the morning before you go to work. You inspire me.

  9. What I notice first are the colors and Bella.. I saw a similar morning sky on this side of the ocean. Unfortunately I was in a car and didn't take a picture.

  10. A lovely photo essay of a beautiful day, Michelle. We have so many blessings to be grateful for. And yeah for real mail!

  11. It is a good life, and what a nice picture driven narrative.
Boy, you do a lot even before heading off to work!
    I love your school mantra.
Love that your niece sent you a real paper letter.
I also like that you showed us the morning sky and the evening sky.

  12. I enjoyed the photo montage of your day and many blessings. This was very uplifting.

  13. I can't decide what I loved more? Your niece sharing her drawing with you takes first place obviously. The pictures are magnificent. My son will drool over Bella.

Best wishes for many joy filled days.
