Stretching, Conferencing, and DONUTS!

Morning pages is the perfect way to begin each day at the Northern Virginia Writing Project ISI. It focuses me and gets me ready for a day of writing. My plan is to continue this practice after the institute. As morning pages draw to an end, we have a break. Each morning someone different brings food. Christy was responsible for our nourishment today and look what she brought.

Her passion for reading and writing was contagious. I can't wait to use some techniques I learned this morning. (To read more about Katlyn's specific lesson, please visit Mr. Anderson's Blog!)

Next, I got the chance to share the profile I wrote about my profile buddy, Matt. I confess, I was so nervous about this. He wrote a beautiful profile of me and I wanted to make sure I wrote something that he'd like. Matt's presentation focused on conferences with our student writers. (Again, to read more about Matt's presentation, stop by Mr. Anderson's Blog!) I love how Matt started out with a quick write...

I loved answering this question about conferencing with a teacher. My first memory of that was my senior year of college. It brought me right back to that moment. I value conferencing so much. It's vital to my practice! Matt shared a powerful spoken word poem that I'd never heard. I loved it. Here it is...

Tomorrow is my last day at this institute. I am so sad to say goodbye and so incredibly grateful for the opportunity. I have a little surprise I need to finish for tomorrow. Only one more blog post with the tag #nvwpISI2016. Sigh...

  1. Michelle,
I had the opportunity to participate in the Columbus Area Writing Project for the second time. My first experience was in 2007. This year's experience was just as powerful, if not more so than my first. Everything I've ever done with the writing project has always been fabulous. I can tell from your post that you are feeling the same effects. Thanks for sharing about your time and all the links in your post.

Please share your thoughts. I love comments!
